I want to know why most parents don’t want their son to marry someone older than him. I’m 27yrs old, recently done with my studies, waiting to go for service and I have always wanted to marry someone older than I since I was 17. I have only dated once and it was in my 200Level with a lady older than me, due to been unprepared, we separated peacefully and she married someone else months later. Now I’m planning on getting into a relationship that will InShaa Allah lead to marriage and I still want someone that’s between 29-32yrs. The problem is my mum isn’t comfortable with it. I have been trying to convince her.

I did not equate old age to maturity in my post actually, I know there are older people who are still immature likewise younger ones who are more matured. I just prefer someone older than I.

I understand you perfectly, I dated someone who was 27 too, I was 30 at the time and his mum did not approve of the relationship, he ended and got married to someone else…… if your mum doesn’t like it, it’s better you let it be cuz at the end, someone will definitely get hurt.
