Corper Ikemefula; a reply to my Igbo brothers
2
My name was Corper Ikemefula when I was serving in Abia state but that was not my real name.
I am a Hausa Fulani from the north posted to Abia state to serve my fatherland or should I say my motherland. It was my first time to be in the southeast region entirely but I have heard stories.
It was 2009 February and am batch A corp member. I arrived Umunna bende orientation camp on the third day of camp after traveling for more than 24hours. I always thought the Igbos are educated, civilized and modern but to my greatest surprise that is not what is obtainable there. I realise they have many out of school children within the Bende community where the permanent orientation camp is located.
Most of the children walk around the camp looking for manial jobs like washing of plates or clothes for a small amount of money or some scaps or crumbs of food. This is my personal experience and is not just a story...... To be continued.
